365Daily – Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has condemned the recent deadly attacks on several communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing them as “senseless” and a serious threat to the unity and stability of the region.
In a statement released on Saturday, April 5, 2025, Yahaya expressed deep sorrow over the violence which occurred in Ruwi, Manguna, Daffo, Josho, and Hurti communities, leaving several people dead and many others—mostly women and children—injured.
“The sanctity of human life must never be taken for granted. These heinous attacks on innocent people are totally unacceptable and must be condemned by all,” the NSGF Chairman said.
He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, the government, and the people of Plateau State, lamenting the continued bloodshed in rural communities across the North.
According to him, “The persistent shedding of innocent blood is a stain on the conscience of the region and the nation.”
Governor Yahaya commended his Plateau counterpart, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, for his swift response to the crisis and the proactive measures taken in its aftermath.
He also praised the security agencies for their rapid intervention and called on them to intensify efforts in apprehending the attackers and ensuring justice is served.
Highlighting the need for long-term solutions, the NSGF Chairman stressed the importance of dialogue, tolerance, and mutual understanding between communities, particularly between farmers and herders.
“As Northern Governors, we will continue to take deliberate steps to end this cycle of violence, by strengthening security collaboration, promoting dialogue, and implementing policies that encourage peace and unity,” he said.
He further called on community leaders, religious groups, and civil society organisations to support government efforts by promoting peace, tolerance, and forgiveness.
“No meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of violence and fear,” Yahaya warned.
The attacks in Bokkos LGA are among the latest in a string of violent incidents that have plagued Plateau State, sparking renewed calls for stronger security measures and reconciliation efforts across the region.
