365Daily – A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has strongly condemned a petition filed by the state chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, against the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, calling for his removal.
In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and signed by top members of the State Executive Committee (SEC), the faction described the petition as “misconceived, petty, and reckless.”
They claimed that Sobotie acted unilaterally without SEC approval and that his allegations against Morka were baseless.
The petition, submitted by Sobotie on March 17, 2025, accused Morka of issuing a press statement clarifying that the National Working Committee (NWC) had not approved the creation of a Delta State APC Leadership Council.
Sobotie also alleged that Morka declared Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the leader of the party in Delta State during a television interview.
However, the SEC members dismissed these claims, stating that Morka acted within his rights as National Publicity Secretary and that no evidence supported the accusation regarding Omo-Agege.
They also qquestioned his opposition to recognising Omo-Agege’s leadership, highlighting his role in the party’s electoral successes in 2023.
Beyond defending Morka, the faction called for Sobotie’s immediate suspension, accusing him of violating party rules, failing to convene meetings, and undermining party integrity by allegedly aligning with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They also alleged that his leadership had been marred by absenteeism and dictatorial tendencies.
The letter was signed by prominent SEC members, including Chief Francis Obigbor (State Deputy Chairman), Surveyor Peter Akarogbe (State Secretary), as well as several local government chairmen, secretaries, and former legislators.
It was copied to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and APC’s National Working Committee.
