Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has disclosed that his administration has already set up a committee to formulate a strategy for the implementation of Wantaregh Paul Unongo’s vision for Benue State, particularly the Tiv nation and the country.
Governor Alia who announced this weekend at the burial of the elderstatesman Wantaregh Paul Unongo held at his country home Tse-Unongo Kwaghngise, Turan in Kwande Local Government Area of the state, said the committee headed by the Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Frederick Ikyaan, is charged with the responsibility of immortalizing the late political leader of the Tiv.
The governor also revealed that one of the mandates of the committee is to establish a tertiary institution in the area, adding that at the moment the faculty of Agriculture under the Benue State University which is set to commence in Kwande would be a preparatory stage to the take off of the higher institution to be established in the area to actualize part of Unongo’s vision.

The governor who identified with the immediate family of the late elderstatesman and former minster of steel development, Wantaregh Unongo, Tiv traditional council and people of Benue State over the loss, prayed God to grant the reposed of the deceased eternal rest in perfect peace.
On his part Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume, who also presented President Bola Tinubu’s letter of condolence to the eldest son of the late Unongo, called on Governor Alia to ensure that the APC family in Benue State is united for the state to witness more development.
The SGF equally urged Benue people to sustain prayers for the success of the Alia administration, charging politicians to emulate the legacy of Wantaregh Unongo who he affirmed believed in peace and unity of the country.
In a remark, Chairman of Kwande Local Government Area, Vitalis Neji who described Wantaregh Unongo as a renowned Tiv nationalist who left behind a legacy of unwavering dedication to the unity and progress of Tiv land, Benue and the entire country, appealed to the federal government to expedite action on protecting lives and property of citizens in the area who has suffered herdsmen attacks and killings for the past years.
