‘Edo people have spoken,’ Speaker Abbas congratulates Okpebholo, Idahosa, APC

365Daily – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), over his governorship election victory in Edo State, over the weekend.The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday night declared Senator Okpebholo winner of the election.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Kirshi, on Monday, September 23, 2024, he state.d that Edo people have spoken with their votes.

While also congratulating the deputy governor-elect, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, a member of the House, on the victory, Abbas noted that both the governor-elect and the deputy governor-elect are serving members of the National Assembly, adding that more parliamentarians are now holding significant stakes in politics and governance in Nigeria.

He, therefore, urged the duo to work together for the common good of Edo people, adding that they should remain good ambassadors of the National Assembly.

With the victory in Edo, the Speaker said Nigerians are still keeping faith with the APC to bring positive changes to the country, especially under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaker Abbas extended his congratulations to President Tinubu and the leadership of the APC at the national and state levels, as well as the people of Edo for “voting positive change” in the state.

While urging Senator Okpebholo and Hon. Idahosa to be magnanimous in victory and extend an olive branch to their opponents, the Speaker called for calm in the state, saying the outcome of the poll is the will of the people.
