The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched Operation Sauka Lafiya, a special intervention programme aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic crashes across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Niger State.
The initiative is part of the Corps’ ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance with traffic regulations, enhance public awareness on road safety and reinforce enforcement activities within the two jurisdictions.
Speaking on the operation, FRSC officials said the exercise is targeted at curbing dangerous road practices and encouraging motorists to strictly comply with traffic laws.
According to the Corps, the intervention will focus on protecting lives and property through intensified patrols, strategic enforcement, increased surveillance and sustained public enlightenment campaigns.
The FRSC urged motorists, commercial transport operators and other road users to support the initiative by obeying speed limits, ensuring their vehicles are roadworthy and avoiding reckless driving and other traffic violations that endanger lives.
The Corps noted that Operation Sauka Lafiya is one of several targeted programmes introduced to improve traffic management and promote safer travel within the FCT and Niger State.
It reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safer roads and called on members of the public to cooperate with FRSC personnel throughout the duration of the exercise.
The Corps expressed optimism that the operation would complement its existing road safety campaigns and significantly contribute to reducing road crashes while promoting responsible road use in the FCT, Niger State and across Nigeria.
