UNICEF support Sokoto Government to respond to cholera outbreak

UNICEF Sokoto Field Office, says it has supported the Sokoto State during the response to cholera outbreak in 12 LGAs in the state.

The LGAs including Binji, Dange Shuni, Gada, Goronyo, Gwadabawa, Kebbe, Kware, Silame, Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Tureta and Wamakko.

In a statement by UNICEF, said drugs and other consumables were given to the various Primary Healthcare Centres where cases were reported, the response was swiftly under 24 hours to prevent casualties from the disease.

According to the statement, the response was supported through funding by SIDA and the US Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance through UNICEF to the state.

It’s said the items supplied includes, Aqua tab, Cholera kits, WASH Dignity kits, Chlorine Drums
Among others.

Sensitization was made to the public on cholera and its mitigating mechanisms inclusive of consistent hygiene practices and stopping the practice of Open Defecation after stabilisation of victims.
