365Daily – A London Court has granted Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, serving Senator and a former Deputy President of the Senate, bail.
On the other hand, Sen. Ekweremadu was denied his bail request.
The duo are standing trial in a United Kingdom court over allegations of organ harvesting. They were arrested by the Metropolitan Police, London, over alleged conspiracy to harvest the organ of one David Ukpo Nwamini.
Specifically, the UK-based Daily Mail reported that Mrs Beatrice was charged with arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation, between August 1 last year and May 5, under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Similarly, Sen. Ekweremadu was charged with conspiracy to arrange or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.
She was granted bail on Monday, July 26, 2022.
Granting the bail, the Common Serjeant of London, judge Richard Marks, stated: “The position is that I have granted bail to Beatrice subject to some fairly stringent conditions but I have refused bail to Ike.”
