Uzodimma inaugurates clinic for Imo civil servants

Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo has inaugurated a clinic, specially designated to offer first aid services to state civil servants.

Speaking at the event in Owerri on Friday, Uzodimma said that workers with emergency cases should approach the clinic for first aid before proceeding to the General Hospital.

He promised to deploy available resources to give the Ministry of Health “what would make the clinic functional to the benefit of the workers”.

He said, “Civil servants must benefit from the clinic and the ministry will receive every comfort needed for optimum service delivery.”

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Barthy Okorochukwu, spoke on the importance of the facility to civil servants.

According to him, it will help to reduce hardship among workers, check huge loss of resources and also save lives during emergencies.

He said the clinic would be open during official hours on work days and that the health workers would be available to offer preventive and curative medical care.

Okorochukwu also said that any drugs donated to the clinic would be administered on sick persons free of charge.

He said that consultation at the clinic would be free, adding that workers would be required to register to get the clinic membership folder.

The commissioner said that for the facility to function effectively, it would need an ambulance, air conditioners, a 15 KVA generator and water reticulation.

He further said that it would need monthly subvention for continuous procurement of basic drugs and running cost for the clinic. ( NAN)
