365Daily – At least 10 market women were crushed to death on Saturday afternoon when a truck rammed into Nkwommiri market in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State.
The incident, which occurred on May 1, 2021, also left scores of others wounded.
According to reports, the disaster occurred when the brake of the truck failed while descending from Anara road towards Orlu.
The deceased women were trading on the roadside of the market when the truck rammed into them.
Some of the victims were reportedly crushed into a nearby river. The community has began working with government officials to rescue those trapped in the incident.
