365Daily – The  leader of ex-agitators in the Niger Delta, Senior High Chief Bibopere Ajube, has paid tribute to the late leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, describing him as a champion of justice, equity, and national development.

In a statement titled “Tribute to Chief Edwin Clark: A Legacy of Leadership and Justice,” personally signed on Tuesday evening, Ajube acknowledged Clark’s lifelong dedication to advocating for the rights of the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.

“His passing marks the end of an era, but his legacy will remain a guiding light for generations to come,” Ajube stated.

Popularly known as Shoot-at-Sight, Ajube described Clark as a statesman of remarkable courage, a mentor to many, and a relentless advocate for his people.

“His unwavering commitment to resource control, regional development, and national unity defined his journey as a political leader, elder statesman, and activist,” he added, honoring Clark, who also served as Nigeria’s Minister of Information.

Ajube emphasized that Clark never shied away from speaking truth to power, regardless of his position.

“The late PANDEF leader was a strong voice for the oppressed. He placed the Niger Delta’s struggles for justice, equity, and fairness at the forefront of national discourse,” he said.

Reflecting on Clark’s extensive contributions, Ajube highlighted his role from his days as a federal commissioner to becoming a revered father figure in Nigerian politics.

“He was a voice for the marginalised, a defender of democracy, and a champion of peace. His leadership and wisdom influenced crucial national conversations, ensuring that the Niger Delta’s concerns were never overlooked,” the Arogbo Ijaw leader noted.

Ajube also extended his condolences to Clark’s family, the Ijaw Nation, and all Nigerians mourning the loss of the elder statesman.

“As we grieve this monumental loss, we also celebrate a life devoted to service, sacrifice, and an unyielding pursuit of justice. May his indomitable spirit continue to inspire us to uphold the values he stood for: fairness, unity, and development.

“Our deepest sympathies go to his family, the Ijaw Nation, and all Nigerians who feel the weight of this loss. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
