Uja who encouraged other institutions and stakeholders to emulate JOSTUM’s commitment to sports development, commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for upgrading sports facilities across the state
Youths in Benue State, particularly students of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi, JOSTUM, have been encouraged to seize the opportunity presented by Governor Hyacinth Alia’s sports development policy to make a living as well as bring honour to the state by winning more laurels.
Speaking at a reception in honour of JOSTUM Tillers Football team, winners of the 2024 varsity men’s football tournament, Head of Media, Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, Emmanuel Uja, said the policy is aimed at empowering approximately 20,000 youths across the 23 local government areas of the state and urged youths to take advantage of this opportunity.
He lauded efforts of JOSTUM Tillers for winning the maiden edition of the varsity cup, emphasizing that the commitment demonstrated by the vice chancellor, council and senate of the university towards sports development culminated to the team’s victory and acknowledged that the feat was in line with Governor Alia’s sports policy which is designed to promote youth empowerment as well as job creation which must be sustained.

He also announced that the recruitment process for coaches and athletes for Benue Sports Council is ongoing, urging youths in the state to participate in active competition.
On Lobi Stars FC’s performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Uja appealed for patience, assuring fans that the team will bounce back to compete for the top three positions in the same manner renowned clubs like Tottenham which once faced similar challenges but were able to surmount same with resilience.
