Gunmen attack Ogbaru LGA headquarters in Anambra

365Daily – Unknown gunmen have attacked the Atani headquarters of Ogbaru local government area in Anambra State, leaving many properties destroyed.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, August 30, 2024.

Residents informed 365Daily that  heavily armed assailants, about 30 in number, caused destruction in the buildings woth guns and dynamites.

The unknown gunment reportedly came from the Umuzu and Amiyi axis at about 5am. At the end of their operation which went unchallenged for more than one hour, they had burnt down four buildings, destroyed a part of the local government chairman’s office but left the canteen untouched.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that a joint team comprising the police and vigilant members chased the hoodlums away and are tracking down the crcriminals.

However, residents of Atani lamented that criminals have been carrying out kidnapping activities in Umuzu and Amiyi communities, including police personnel and vigilante members, unhindered.
