Sheathe your swords: Nasarawa politician, Wakili El-Kabir, urges protesters

I am using this opportunity to urge my fellow youths to be patient in the sense that they have to think twice, because protest is not always a solution, but it is their fundamental rights

A Senatorial candidate for Nasarawa West Zone of Nasarawa State during the 2023 general elections, Dr. Mohammed Wakili El-Kabir, has urged aggrieved  Nigerians who are planning for a nationwide protest from August 1, tagged #ENDBADGOVERNANCEINNIGERIA to exercise a little patience, owing to the fact that President Bola Tinubu was doing everything humanly possible to solve ongoing hardships being faced by Nigerians.

El-Kabir who recently decamped to All Progressives Congress, APC, and also indicated interest to contest  the governorship position of Nasarawa State come 2027 made the assertion in an interview with journalists in Nasarawa State and said the country’s constitution gives room or recognizes peaceful protest.

He said, “Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has allowed and empowered every citizen to carryout what we called peaceful protest. If you look at what is happening in Nigeria it is duty-bound on everybody to pray for this country.

“This country is in lacuna because the democratically processes and principles have not been taken care off, especially in the area of agriculture. This is the part of negligent by our political stakeholders with special emphasis to our governors, ministers and other like minds.

“I am using this opportunity to urge my fellow youths to be patient in the sense that they have to think twice, because protest is not always a solution, but it is their fundamental rights. What I will advice them is that let us use our civic right through our votes to send any undemocratic government out of office and not through violence, please”

He further advised President Tinubu to disassociate himself from sycophants within his government, urging the president to rework on the economy policies for the betterment of the people of this country.
