365Daily – The Martin Amaewhule-led faction of Rivers State House of Assembly has given the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, a 7-day deadline to resubmit the 2024 budget.
Amaewhule-led faction is loyal to the immediate past governor of the state and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
They gave order on Monday, July 8, 2024, after several months of inactivity.
As at the time the ultimate was issued, a parallel session was being held by the Rivers Assembly members loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.
365Daily recalls that the pro-Fubara lawmakers had previously approved the 2024 budget presented by the Governor when his current Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie was still the Speaker.
The Governor subsequently signed the money bill into law, emphasising that it will promote economic development, inclusive growth, and address socio-economic inequality in the state.
