Former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, is dead

365Daily – A former Plateau Central Senator and deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu, is dead.

It was gathered that he died in the wee hours of Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

While the family is yet to give details into the cause of his death, some sources are saying he may have died of COVID-19.

Mantu was bom on Februarey 16, 1947 and hails from Gindiri, in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

He was the National Chairman of the defunct Liberal (Convention); Director General, defunct National Republican Convention Presidential Campaign, 1993; National Chairman defunct Peoples Democratic Alliance; National Publicity Secretary, defunct United Nigeria Congress Party.

Mantu was elected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, 1999-2007; Chairman, Senate Independent Consolidation Committee on Cushioning Measures, ICCCM, 2005; and Chairman, defunct National Assembly Joint Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, 2006.

The late former Deputy Senate President will be buried at 2pm today.
