365Daily – The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Ad-hoc Committee investigating alleged unlawful activities of the Ministry of Abakaliki Capital City Development has disclosed that it has received over forty-six petitions against its Commissioner, Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi.
The petitioners alleged that their buildings, fences, vehicles and foodstuff were destroyed by the task force of the Ministry led by Nwebonyi.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Mrs Lilian Nwachukwu, told journalists that the investigation is in progress to ascertain the truth of the matter.
Out of over 46 petitions submitted, four were presented by their lawyers while others presented their cases by themselves.
The petitioners include Mr Michael Ituma, Okonkwo Ikechukwu, Nwankwo Elijah, Chinyere Azi, Mrs Ilochi Christiana, Helen Ukor Idam, Racheal Alo, Chukwuma Igwe, among others.
Meanwhile the Committee on Thursday, June 24, 2021, visited the site of the affected people to ascertain the truth of petitioners.
Addressing the people whose properties and goods were allegedly destroyed, Hon. Nwachukwu enjoined them to remain peaceful as the Government was looking into their complaints.
Represented by the Ohaozara East Constituency Rep, she appealed to the people to be patient with the Committee as they will not waste time in preparing their report.
Other members of the Ad-hoc Committee include Hon. Victor Aleke, Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, Hon. Mrs Franca Okpo, Hon. Onu Nwonye, Hon. Chinedu Onah and Hon. Nkemka Okoro Onuma.
