Troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade, operating under Operation UDO KA, have rescued 10 prospective corps members abducted by suspected kidnappers in Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
The victims were reportedly travelling in two commercial buses when they were intercepted and abducted near Umonuwa village along the route.
The 10 young Nigerians were said to be on their way to participate in the National Youth Service Corps programme when the incident occurred.
Following the abduction, troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade launched an operation to locate the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The operation resulted in the successful rescue of all 10 prospective corps members, who were recovered safely and handed over to the appropriate authorities.
The rescue is expected to provide relief to the victims and their families, while security forces continue efforts to track the kidnappers responsible for the attack.
