Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa, Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, joined Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, at the Abia Solemn Assembly and Covenant Renewal Service held at the JAAC Building Auditorium, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia.
Themed “Remembering the Covenant,” the service marked the conclusion of a three day state wide fasting and prayer exercise observed in homes, communities and religious institutions across Abia State.
Osonwa said the gathering provided an opportunity to give thanks, noting what he described as peace in communities, visible progress across the state and a government that, in his view, had found its footing after years during which many Abians had almost stopped expecting positive changes.
According to him, Governor Otti spoke on faith, ethical leadership and the importance of remaining faithful to the covenant made with the people of Abia.
Osonwa said the governor attributed the stabilisation of the state to divine guidance and the support of Abians.
He also expressed appreciation to Rev. Dr. Sam Oye, Apostle Ofodire and other ministers who led prayers for wisdom, security, economic expansion and peaceful governance.
“Whatever office any of us holds, we are all under the same authority. It does us good to be reminded of that from time to time,” Osonwa said.
He prayed for God’s continued protection and guidance for Abia State.
