Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Friday, September 4, paid a condolence visit to former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
The duo visited Amaechi at his residence in Port Harcourt to commiserate with him and his family over the loss of the 89-year-old matriarch.
Obi also joined members of the Amaechi family, friends and associates at a Vigil Mass held in honour of the deceased.
Speaking during the visit, Obi expressed deep sympathy to the former governor and his family, describing the loss of a parent as one of the most painful experiences anyone can endure.
He noted that words are often inadequate to capture the depth of grief that accompanies the death of a beloved parent, urging the bereaved family to draw strength from the life and legacy of the deceased.
According to Obi, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi lived a fulfilled life characterised by faith, service, love and meaningful contributions to her community and the Church.
He said her values and legacy would continue to live on through her children, family members, the wider community and the many lives she touched during her lifetime.
Obi prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and all the faithful departed, while asking God to grant Amaechi, his family and loved ones the strength, comfort and fortitude to bear the loss.
The condolence visit brought together prominent political figures and associates as the Amaechi family continues to mourn the passing of their matriarch.
