NDLEA operatives carried out raids at Farm Centre, Kofar Nasarawa, Diga Nasarawa, Dakata (Zango), Filin Polo and Hausawa

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has dismantled six suspected drug hotspots across Kano State, leading to the arrest of 15 suspects and the seizure of assorted illicit substances.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, announced the development in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano.
He said the operation was conducted following intelligence-led assessments of locations suspected to be involved in drug trafficking and the distribution of controlled substances.
According to him, NDLEA operatives carried out raids at Farm Centre, Kofar Nasarawa, Diga Nasarawa, Dakata (Zango), Filin Polo and Hausawa.
The State Commander, Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal, said the operation was part of the command’s ongoing campaign to disrupt drug trafficking networks and prevent drug abuse in communities across the state.
Yahaya-Lawal said the agency would continue to maintain pressure on identified drug hotspots while strengthening its intelligence-gathering and enforcement activities.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to sustaining pressure on drug hotspots within Kano and beyond,” he said.
The commander explained that enforcement activities would be complemented by community engagement, public sensitisation and other non-kinetic measures aimed at addressing the factors driving substance abuse.
Items recovered during the operation included cannabis sativa, pentazocine injections, pregabalin and Exol-5 tablets.
Yahaya-Lawal warned drug traffickers and other individuals involved in the illicit trade that the agency would continue to pursue them, urging those engaged in the business to abandon it and embrace lawful means of livelihood.
He disclosed that investigations into the 15 suspects were still ongoing and that those found culpable would be taken to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The NDLEA commander appealed to residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the agency by providing credible information on suspected drug dealers, trafficking routes and other locations used for illicit drug activities.
He stressed that public cooperation would strengthen efforts to dismantle drug networks and protect communities from the harmful effects of substance abuse.
