The commander of the Nigeria Hunter and Forest Security Service, NHFSS, in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mr. Bawa Kyauta, has assured residents of the FCT of adequate security arrangement especially within the forests and boundaries of Abuja during this festive period.
Kyauta stated this when he spoke with NationsPride in Abuja on Tuesday, saying “I feel so good because my men have strategized, they are everywhere across the six area councils, 17 chiefdoms and 817 communities that make up the FCT.
“I have boosted their morale; I told them that though as a voluntary organization, we should ensure that lives are safe at all our communities, forestry and boundaries.
“We have strategized, and we believe that by God’s grace, everyone would sleep with two eyes closed. Our men are patrolling everywhere”.
Kyauta expressed appreciation with the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Honourable Christopher Maikalangu, for finding NHFSS worthy to provide security during the distribution of rice for Christmas celebration in the area council.
“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the AMAC chairman for having confidence in us during the distribution of palliatives to the people for Christmas”, the FCT commander noted.
On his relationship with the commandant-general of NHFSS, Wole Oshitimehin, Bawa Kyauta said, he has learned a lot from his boss especially his humility lifestyle, which has become a source of inspiration to him.
According to him, “I am learning a lot from my commandant-general, being the 001 of NHFSS, I am trying my best to ensure that I back him up, to let him know that I have learned from him. I keep telling my men that this is what we can do to contribute our quota and ensure that FCT is a goal, even though there is no remuneration for now.
He also expressed confidence on the FCT minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and promised to back him up and to ensure security of lives and property.
He said, though some of their sister agencies like the Vigilante Group of Nigeria have been motivated in one way or the other, but the NHFSS promises to contribute to the security of the FCT.
“Some of my boys trek from far and near to answer the calls of their commanders and they use their personal money to do the job. We are doing this because of the love we have for our country believing that one day things would get right.
“We should continue to pray for our leaders especially President Bola Tinubu, Nigeria will continue to get better. Let us have a mindset of peace even at this time of celebration”, Bawa advised.
