365Daily – The leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in the House of Representatives, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, has emerged as the party’s consensus candidate for the Ogbaru Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ogene’s emergence was confirmed at the NDC National Assembly primary election held in Atani, the headquarters of Ogbaru Local Government Area, on Friday, May 29, 2026.
The lawmaker, who is seeking re-election to the House of Representatives, thanked party supporters and stakeholders for endorsing him as the party’s candidate, attributing the development to his record of representation and service to the constituency.
“I am deeply grateful to our party members, supporters and stakeholders for the confidence they have continued to place in me. This endorsement is not just a vote of confidence in my leadership, but a call to greater service,” Ogene said.
He noted that the support he has received over the years would inspire him to work harder for the development of Ogbaru Federal Constituency and urged party faithful to commence intensive grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
“From today, we must begin the task ahead. I urge our members and supporters to go into every community, every ward and every polling unit to sensitise and mobilise voters for the NDC,” he said.
According to him, early mobilisation will be crucial to the party’s chances in the next general elections.
“If we remain united and committed, we will secure a comprehensive victory in the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly elections,” he added.
Ogene assured constituents that he would not betray the trust reposed in him, pledging to continue prioritising the welfare and interests of the people.
“I will not let the people of Ogbaru down. My commitment remains to quality representation, responsive leadership and the continued pursuit of policies and projects that will improve the lives of our people,” he said.
