The suspects should not be killed but be handed over to the police after informing the State Commissioner of Police of the arrest
The Vigilantee Group of Nigeria (VGN), has arrested two suspected bandits at Janruwa Grazing Reserve in Kanya District of Danko Wasagu local government areas of Kebbi State.
The chairman of the local government area, Hussaini Aliyu Bena, who stated this to Journalist in Birnin Kebbi, explained that, last Wednesday he received a call from the District Head of Kanya informing him about the arrest of the two suspected bandits by the Vigilantes patrolling the area.
According to the chairman, on receipt of the call, he rushed to the scene and directed that, the suspects should not be killed but be handed over to the police after informing the State Commissioner of Police of the arrest.
Aliyu Bena, stated that during the arrest, one of the bandits was trying to escape but with the help of the public, he was rearrested after which the vigilante shot at him but their guns failed to function.
While thanking the state government for its logistics support to security operatives, the vigilantee and volunteers at the area, the chairman assured continued support to the joint security team to ensure more peace in the area.
He, however, called on the people in the area to always report any suspicious movement to the security operatives in the area.
On its part, Kebbi State Police Command, Bello Musa, has confirmed the arrest through the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Nafiu Abubakar.
