365Daily – Days after Senator Ali Ndume called out President Ahmed Tinubu for not being in tune with the economic reality of Nigerians, the Senate has demoted him from the principal office of the Chief Whip.
He has been replaced with Senator Tahir Monguno.
Ndume had come under fire from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which he is a member of, and other supporters of the president for saying that securing financial autonomy for Local Governments was the greatest achievement of Tinubu since he assumed office in 2023, also said that he was unaware of existential challenges in the country.
He also added that the president is caged in Aso Villa and unaware of true happenings in Nigeria.
On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, the Senate, acting on a letter written by the National Chairman of the party, Umar Ganduje and National Secretary, Senator Bashir Ajibola, announced the change.
When put to voice vote by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the APC senators shouted in affirmative, signifying their assent to the decision.
