A preeminent organization dedicated to advocating for the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom, Central Association of Nigerians in the UK, CANUK, has announced the successful hosting of two insightful seminars aimed at providing essential support and guidance.
According to a release by CANUK’s public secretary, Rose P. Graham and the assistant public secretary, Muhammad Yiosse, the first seminar, held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, focused on “Support for New and Existing Nigerian Families in the UK: Preventing Child Safeguarding Breaches and Understanding UK Social Services Interventions.”
CANUK said esteemed presenters including Ekanem Robertson, Tolulope Abegunde, Juliet Benson Oluyemisi Jenkins-MBE, and Councillor Sade Etti, alongside member associations such as AFRUCA, ANHCSCW, and BNLF, delivered invaluable insights into navigating child safeguarding issues and social services interventions in the UK, and attendees gained practical knowledge to ensure the safety and well-being of Nigerian families.
Building on the success of the first seminar, CANUK’s Legal Committee organized a comprehensive conference on “Contemporary Legal Issues Affecting Nigerians in the UK Part 1″ on Saturday, May 11th, 2024.
Esteemed solicitors Elizabeth Eigbefoh, Bunmi Otuyemi, Emmanuel Sodola, and Jennifer Okafor delivered insightful sessions covering a range of crucial topics, including employment issues in the Care Industry, UK Immigration rules, and general advice for settling into life in the UK.
