Thirty one Police Public Relations Officers and Public Relations experts have been inducted at the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters Abuja, into the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Thursday, 14th December, 2023.
In a release issued in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday, the induction ceremony was conducted by the president and chairman of the Council of the NIPR, Dr Ike Neliaku, who was represented by the Vice President of the institute, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura.
According to Adejobi, it was a highlight of the just concluded Conference and Seminar for Nigeria Police Public Relations Officers and PR Experts held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from 11th to14th December, 2023.
“This initiative is a testament to the commitment of the force towards fostering continuous training and development among its personnel. The induction of these image managers into the NIPR is in alignment with the Force’s adherence to the standards and criteria outlined in the NIPR Act, 2004, law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, governing professional practice within the clime of Public Relations”, he said.
During the induction ceremony, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, represented by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, charged the newly inducted officers to effectively apply their acquired knowledge in their official capacities as spokespersons. The IGP highlighted the crucial role these officers play in enhancing communication and fostering positive relations between the Police and the general public.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, also expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for his staunch support towards the advancement of the Public Relations Department, describing it as unprecedented.
The Force reiterates commitment to upholding professionalism, continual learning, and the strict observance of ethical standards across all operational spheres.
