365Daily – The National Examination Council (NECO) has introduced an online platform for verifying the authenticity of results.

This was disclosed by the Registrar and Chief Executive of the examination body, Professor Ibrahim Wushishi in Abuja, on Thursday.

365Daily recalls that a candidate of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board have been embroiled in a controversy over the alleged forgery of her results.

He said the e-platform will check incidences of certificate forgery and impersonation and provide employers, educational institutions, and other relevant bodies a means to verify and confirm the validity of results presented by candidates.

The e-platform, which is accessible through the NECO website, allows users to input the details of the candidate, including their examination number and year of examination. The system will then generate a unique code that can be used to verify the candidate’s result.

He explained that the NECO e- verify is an online result verification solution that guarantees instant authentication of academic and basic information about prospective candidates for admission and employment, adding that “due to the growing need for verification and confirmation of results by institutions both home and abroad, the council decided that now was the best time to introduce the e-verify platform.”

Professor Wushishi added that it will also provide candidates with an added layer of protection against fraud, increase confidence, reduce risk and improve efficiency.
