A commuter, identified as Lawrence was on Friday assaulted and brutalised by the Lagos State enforcement team tagged Ministry of Transportation, (MOT) task force.

A video of the attack on Friday, showed a middle aged man wearing a white T-shirt with a winter coat discoloured with blood.

He also has a broken head and bloodstains on his swollen face.

The victim, who was overheard in the video narrating what happened, appealed for justice.

He said the unprovoked attack occurred on Friday morning at Berger Bus Stop, adding that he committed no offence to warrant such level of brutality from the government officials.

Lawrence narrated, “Nigerians please assist me to get justice. This morning I was coming from my house… from Orile where I am living. I entered my friend’s vehicle and on getting to Berger Bus Stop, he dropped a passenger. From the bus stop, he picked another passenger, and wanted to move when the MOT stopped him, blocked the road. Why they blocked the expressway, we didn’t know.

“Next thing, the officials started harassing the driver and began to drag the steering with him. He (driver) came down and they packed all the passengers. Getting to where they were, the question I asked them was; Now you have arrested this bus, we that are passengers please help, put us in another vehicle so that we can continue our journey since no other vehicle will stop while you are here.

“That is what I said, that they should please stop a vehicle and put us (the passengers) in a vehicle so that we can continue our journey, and the MOT taskforce pounced on me. They started hitting me with hard objects to the existent that they broke my head and inflicted wounds everywhere. They punched my jaws and all parts of my body.

“I have internal injuries. All my jaws, my teeth, my neck, my leg; I am really brutalised for committing no crime. See my clothes bathed in blood. See my head and my face. I am calling for justice. I need justice. I didn’t commit any crime to warrant such brutal treatment from government officials.”

Efforts to get reaction of the State Ministry of Transport MOT Taskforce, were unsuccessful as of press time.
