Ebonyi Gov’s wife urges Ebonyi communities to protect govt projects

The Governor’s wife said to entrust the projects with ardor was for the benefit, interest, sustainability and enhancement of its purpose for the rural population

The Wife of Ebonyi Governor, Mrs Rachael Umahi, has charged communities in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state to take charge and protect public projects in their area with passion.

Umahi gave the charge on Friday during official commissioning of projects executed by the Council Chairperson, Mrs Nkechinyere Iyioku.

The Governor’s wife said to entrust the projects with ardor was for the benefit, interest, sustainability and enhancement of its purpose for the rural population.

“Local authorities and the people should help protect these projects with desire,” she said.

She expressed satisfaction with the projects and described them as qualitative and community-driven ventures.

She, however, described the Chairperson as an achiver, whose ability was to achieve set goals for their team and people.

“I believe in her views and perceptions as a leader,” Mrs Umahi said.

The Chairman of the Occasion, Mr Austin Umahi, appreciated the Chairperson for showing transparency in her leadership.

Iyioku also, Chairperson, Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Ebonyi chapter, thanked the government and key stakeholders, women and youths for their support for the projects.

“I am proud of the traditional rulers for their contributions. I achieve peace,” Iyioku said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that wife of the Governor, commissioned a Local Government Lodge and Civic Centre at Ugwulangwu Autonomous community in the LGA.

Other projects included 45 manual and motorised boreholes, graded and laterite rural roads, agricultural and educational programmes.
