365Daily – One of the recently released captives of the Kaduna train attack, Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, the son of the Chairman of Northern Elders’ Forum and former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Isah Ango Abdullahi, has urged the Federal Government to make efforts to release the aged and young children who are still left in captivity.
In a tweet posted on Wednesday, July 13, 2023, Safiq said he spent 104 days in the kidnappers’den before he was released.
He added that though it was a big relief to be back home with his family, it is temporary because he left 43 other people, including aged women and little children who are waiting to be rescued behind.
Ango wrote: “I regained freedom after 104 days in captivity. I thank the many people out there, family, friends and well wishers that prayed and wished for my safe return during these trying times.
“Indeed it is a big relief to be home with family, but I am afraid that relief is temporary knowing I left 43 others including aged women and children below the age of 10 that are still in captivity waiting and hoping to be rescued.
“I am once again calling on the Federal Government and all Nigerians to help secure the release of the remaining victims.”
On March 28, 2022, a train moving from Abuja to Kaduna was violently hijacked by terrorists, who also abducted passengers on board.
While many have regained their freedom, 43 are still in captivity, with their abductors reportedly requesting N100m for each victim’s freedom.
