Eagles in Europe in impressive weekend outings

Super Eagles players were in excellent form over the weekend across European leagues scoring goals and registering assists for their various clubs.

In the English Premier League, EPL, new Super Eagles arrival, Ademola Lookman, was on the scoresheet on Sunday as Leicester City defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 at the Kings Power Stadium.

Lookman, who made his international debut for the Super Eagles on March 25th against Ghana during the 2022 World Cup play-off, scored the opening goal in the 39th minute.

Lookman has scored 7 goals with 6 assists in all competitions for the Foxes this season.

His compatriot, Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored against Manchester United in their previous league game  had 14 minutes of action after he was subbed-in in the 76th minute.

At Goodson Park, Super Eagles attacker, Alex Iwobi, put up a fine performance as Everton beat Manchester United 1-0 on Saturday to boost their chances of escaping the drop.

The former Arsenal star, Iwobi, was in action for 90 minutes in the keenly contested encounter. The 25-year-old has made 20 league appearances for the Toffees this season with two goals to his name. He has seen more time on the pitch under new manager Frank Lampard than he had previously.

In the Spanish LaLiga, Samuel Chukwueze provided an assist, as Villarreal settled for a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao in Saturday’s La Liga encounter.

The home draw was a huge set back to the Yellow Submarines in their quest fir continental ticket at the end if the season.

In the Italian Serie A, Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen scored a goal and provided an assist, but that could not save his club, Napoli from suffering a 3-2 home defeat to Fiorentina on Sunday.

Osimhen has now scored 16 goals with one assist in all competitions this season.

In the French Ligue1, Terem Moffi scored 2 goals with 2 assist as Lorient trashed Saint-Etienne 6- 2 on Friday. Moffi remains Lorient’s top scorer this season with 7 goals and 4 assists in all competitions.

Super Eagles winger, Simon Moses was in action as Nantes held Brest in a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s Ligue 1 game. Moses made his 25th appearance, and has scored three goals with seven assists in all competitions for Nantes this season.

In Scotland, Super Eagles midfielder, Joe Aribo was on target as Rangers defeated St. Mirren 4 -0 away from home on Sunday.

Aribo scored a spectacular strike in the 76th minute from outside the box with the left foot. Aribo has scored eight goals and registered six assists in 31 Scottish Premier League games for Rangers so far this season.
