Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa on Friday, led a delegation on a `thank-you-visit’ to President Muhammadu Buhari who inaugurated some developmental projects at his official engagements in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the delegation comprising former governors of the state, members of the National and State Assemblies, traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders were at the State House to express formal appreciation to the President on his recent visit to the state.
The President had visited Nasarawa in February, where he inaugurated the Lafia Airport, Modern Bus Terminal, Vocational and Skills Acquisition Centre, and the Shinge-Barkini Abdullahi-Kilema road, executed by the state government.
While in the state, Buhari also inaugurated some Federal Government projects which included the 330kva Power Substation and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) building in Lafia.
Receiving members of the delegation in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Buhari lauded efforts of the governor toward providing the desired infrastructural facilities across the state as critical pathways of achieving a prosperous economy.
He expressed hope that the facilities being provided by the state government would go a long way in uplifting the quality of life of inhabitants of the state.
Buhari thanked the delegation for the show of appreciation, describing his visit to the state as a fascinating eye opener in view of the giant strides achieved so far.
He charged the governor to remain focused in sustaining the upward trajectory in critical sectors of the state’s economy for enhanced standard of living of the people as well as a prosperous future.
In his remarks, the governor, who thanked the President for his recent visit to Nasarawa, reiterated his appeal to the Federal Government to convert the Dalhatu Araf specialist Hospital Lafia to a teaching Hospital, to boost healthcare services in the state.
He also urged the Federal Government to take over the Lafia Airport, extend rail line from Abuja to keffi and connect to the main National railway in Gudi station, as well as the completion of the Kwandare -Abuja bye-pass.
According to the governor, Nasarawa state remains relatively peaceful in view of the setting up of several security outfits in the state.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated the Umar Bin Khattab remodeled Jumma’at Mosque at Utako District of Abuja.
The Mosque was built by Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS).
According to the National Chairman of the organisation, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, the Mosque is a product of voluntary donations by the Muslim faithful.
The President was later joined by Senate President, Dr Ahmed Lawan, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar several governors, ministers and other dignitaries to observe the inaugural Jumma’at prayers at the mosque.
NAN reports that Special prayers for peace, progress and stability of the nation were offered by several Islamic scholars at the event. (NAN)
