365Daily -The lingering crisis in the Akwa Ibom state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken a new twist as the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, ordered the nullification of the inauguration of a factional chairman of the party, Augustine Ekanem.
Ekanem is the chairman of the APC National Caretaker Committee Secretary,
Senator John James Udoedehe’s faction.
The other faction is led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, former governor of Akwa Ibom state and current Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs.
Ekanem, who was recently sworn-in in Abuja as the authentic chairman of the party in the state, has now been removed through the order of court which ruled an immediate withdrawal of his Certificate of Return.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo, in his judgement, ordered for the immediate swearing in of Obong Stephen Ntukekpo as the duly elected chairman and should be sworn in immediately.
The judge in his judgement frowned at the impunity that was perpetrated by Udoedehe in the state chapter of the party, “saying, “this court decries Udoedehe’s impunity. Internal democracy connotes political parties obeying their constitution and party guidelines.
