365Daily – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dame (Mrs.) Lucy Omesefe Ajayi, has declared the former governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura as the best candidate for the chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

She explained that his humility and accessibility stand him out among other APC chairmanship aspirants.

Dame Ajayi disclosed that she had worked with the former governor during the formative period of APC and could vouch for his great leadership qualities.

According to her, one other thing that the ex-governor has going for him is his knack for innovation, which she said she believed will make him a proactive leader that will be of great value to the party, if elected.

Ajayi, the immediate past CEO/Executive Director of Lagos International TradeFare Complex, said: “I have also worked with him for six months during the merger of the legacy parties to form the APC and I saw humility personified. An intelligent and a team worker. As a sitting governor then, he was very accessible and accommodating. I also saw his sincere efforts, trying to make a better Nigeria. He is well experienced in the politics of Nigeria.”

She further said that since Al-Makura is someone that loves innovative and brilliant people, he will most likely not surround himself with egg-heads that will assist him in making the party an envy of all in Africa.

Ajayi, who is also a former chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, opined that APC needs an experienced visionary leader who understands the dynamics of Nigerian politics at the moment and should be supported to lead the party at this crucial period when the general election is around the corner.

Expressing displeasure over current happenings in the party, she added, ” I don’t like what is happening around the convention but it will be resolved by God’s grace. The hardest part was when the merger was almost consummated, the same confusion came up but we surpassed it too. So I know definitely well that the convention will hold.”
