Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara says President Muhammadu Buhari’s many intervention programmes have impacted positively on the masses.
AbdulRazaq made the assertions on Tuesday in Ilorin, while receiving Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, in his office.
The governor, however, advised the critics of President Buhari’s administration on the social media to stop, urging them to appreciate his immense contributions to the growth and development of the country.
The minister, represented by Hajiya Safiya Sanni, the Deputy Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, was in Ilorin for the handing over of feeding utensils to the state government under the National Home-Grown School Feeding.
According to him, this is the reason why in any state the president visited, people were always coming out to show him appreciations.
AbdulRasaq referred to a situation in Kwara where women used part of their Conditional Cash Transfer money to help rebuild a dilapidated school before the state government refunded them and completed the project.
The governor said that to know how well the President’s intervention was impacting the people, he drove no fewer than 20 minutes away from the main road to reach the place.
“This means that the system captures a village that is not even on the main road, but people still criticise the President.
“If the programme does not work, the state government would not have rebuilt the school in Agidingbi,” AbdulRazaq said.
The governor said that initially, he was thinking what would the N10,000 Trader Money do, but later realised its importance after visiting the market and found out that many petty trader women’s net worth was between N4,000 and N5,000.
He commended the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, blaming the delayed onboarding of the state in the programme on the unseriousness of the past governments.
“This is a day we have long been waiting for, because this is an important programme that should have started a long time ago.
“This programme has the tendency to increase attendance in our schools, provide good nutrition and improve local economy, especially among the farmers,” he said.
Earlier, the minister thanked the governor for his support to the Ministry’s social investment programmes in the state, especially the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme.
“We are here today to solicit for your continuous support, because Kwara State is really helping in promoting the social investment programme,” Farouq said.(NAN)
