Gunmen kill 5 traditional rulers in Imo, injure others

365Daily – Tragedy has befallen Imo State as unknown gunmen on Tuesday,  October 19, 2021, attacked a meeting of traditional rulers holding at  Nnenasa community, headquarters of Njaba local government area of the state, killing five of them.

The traditional rulers from the area, numbering about 20 were in a meeting at the venue when interrupted the meeting with sporadic gunshots and killed at least five traditional rulers on the spot.

Those who sustained gunshot injuries have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mike Abatam, confirmed the attack, but said only three traditional rulers were killed.

This unfortunate situation happened barely two days that bandits attacked a busy and densely populated Goronyo Township Market in Sokoto and killed over 40 people on Sunday night.
