365Daily – Dr. Nkem Okeke, Deputy Governor of Anambra State, has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), from his former party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), after weeks of speculations about his defection.
The Deputy Governor was received into the APC fold on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, by President Muhammadu Buhari, in the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Dr. Okeke was accompanied to the presidential villa by the Governor of neighbouring Imo State, and APC chieftain, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
This is coming on the eve of the Anambra State governorship election, billed for November 6, 2021.
Okeke, a former university lecturer, is a two-term deputy governor, who was allegedly marginalized in the government that many were surprised as he was nominated as running mate to Governor Willie Obiano, in 2017, when they contested the second term election.
In recent days, many top politicians, including a current senator, House of Representatives members, State Assembly members and others have defected to the APC in Anambra, from different political parties in the state.
