Jos Crises: Gov. Umahi directs evacuation of stranded Ebonyi students

365Daily – Following the civil disturbances that erupted in Jos, the Plateau State capital, Ebonyi State Governor, Engr.David Umahi, has directed the immediate evacuation of all stranded Ebonyi students in the University of Jos.

Umahi, in a press statement issued by the Commissioner for information and State  Orientation, Barr. Uchenna Orji, said that the Governor has dispatched some Government officials to the institution to ensure the safety of the students.

The statement said: “Following the violent disturbances that led to the closure of University of Jos, Plateau State, the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE, FNATE,( Akubaraoha) has authorised the evacuation of the stranded students of Ebonyi State origin from the University.

“Consequently, government officials have been dispatched to the institution to ensure safe return of the affected students with immediate effect, while we hope that the situation will abate to enable the students resume their studies”.
