Tragedy in Ebonyi as bus plunges passengers into mining pit

365Daily–  A minibus conveying undisclosed passengers at the weekend plunged into a mining pit along Enyigba community in Ikwo Local government government Area of Ebonyi State.

365Daily gathered that the bus, which was fully loaded with passengers, took off from the popular Ochi-Udo motor park on Afikpo road, Abakaliki metropolis.

The number of passengers were yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, although it was further gathered that the occupants were majorly Ikwo indigenes who were returning home from the capital city, Abakaliki.

A reliable source told 365Daily that the bus driver lost control when he reached Enyigba community where people were mining and the car plunged into a pit filled with water.

An eyewitness who spoke with 365Daily, said the occupants of the bus were still inside the mining pit, adding that up till now, “the bus is yet to be recovered due to the level of water inside the pit.”

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Ebonyi police command, DSP Loveth Odah for confirmation at the time of filing this report were fruitless.
