The state government said the decision was informed by credible intelligence that some hotel owners and proprietors of entertainment centers have given their premises to cult groups and other criminal gangs to use as their base.

This warning was conveyed in a statement in Uyo, the state capital, on Thursday, July 15, 2021, by Comrade Ini Ememobong, Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for Information & Strategy.
