365Daily – 161 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on July 12, 2021, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has disclosed.
The agency made this known on its website on Tuesday morning, July 13, 2021.
It said with the new number, the total of infections in the country have risen to 168, 713.
Accorsing to the disease country agency, 37 people who recovered from the disease were discharged from isolation centres across the country; 164, 476 were successfully treated and no death was recorded as at July 12.
This means Nigeria’s total deaths from the pandemic stands at 2,124.
NCDC’s breakdown showed that of the 161 infections, Lagos had 153, FCT 4, Gombe 2, Oyo 1 and Rivers 1.
It stressed that the Lagos figure included 74 cases reported on Sunday, July, 11, while four states – Ekiti, Kaduna, Nasarawa, and Ogun – recorded zero cases.
The NCDC said the country had successfully tested 2.3 million samples out of over 200 million Nigerians.
It added that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continued to coordinate the national response activities.
