Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has expressed sadness over the demise of former Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Al-Hassan.
365Daily had earlier reported that the former minister died today in Cairo, Egypt after one week of travelling for treatment at the age of 61.
In a statement on his social media handle, Atiku said he was shocked that he had earlier called her without response while praying to God to grant her eternal repose.
“I am grieved by the death of former Minister of Women Affairs, Sen. Aisha Al-Hassan. I asked about her condition this afternoon after I called her number without a response! Inna lillahi wainna Ilaihi Rajiun! May Allah forgive her sins and grant her Aljannah Fiddausi in this holy month. Ameen.
“Mama Taraba as she was popularly known, was an accomplished civil servant, astute politician and patriot. She was compassionate, loyal and deeply committed to a better Nigeria. She will be sorely missed. I really have lost a sister and a loyalist”, Atiku said.
Al-Hassan resigned from the President Muhammadu Buhari government in 2019 after declaring her support for the former Vice President in the lead up to the general election.
She is known to be a loyalist of Mr Abubakar.
Al-Hassan was the APC gubernatorial candidate for Taraba State in the 2015 general elections and later contested for the same seat on the platform of the UDP in the 2019 general elections.
