Gov. Umahi declares 7 days fasting and prayer over rising insecurity

365Daily – As part of efforts to address rising insecurity in the state, Governor David Umahi has declared 7 days of fasting and prayers.

The State Commissioner for information and State Orientation, Hon. Uchenna Orji, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abakaliki on Saturday, May 1, 2021.

According to Orji , the fasting and prayer which started on May 1, would end on May 8, 2021.

The statement further stated that the first and last days would be marked by simultaneous special prayer sessions by stakeholders at the State Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki, Akanu Ibiam International Conference Centre, Abakaliki and the headquarters of each of the local government areas from 4pm to 6pm.

The statement read in part. “In view of the present security situation in the country and in keeping with his covenant to run a God-fearing administration, the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE ( Akubaraoha), has convened a 7-day fasting and prayer scheduled to commence on Saturday, 1st May and end on Saturday, 8th May 2021.”
