The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mohammed Aliyu, has urged enrollees in the second phase of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to abide by COVID-19 preventive protocols.
Aliyu gave the advice in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
The commissioner urged the organisers to make provisions and comply with COVID-19 preventive protocols as well.
“The organisers should strictly ensure that hand washing/sanitisation materials are provided; wearing of face mask as well as maintenance of social/physical distance during the period of the exercise,’’ he said.
Aliyu advised retired police personnel yet to enroll, to seize the opportunity of the enrollment made possible by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu and join in the exercise.
“The Command wishes to inform retired police personnel resident in the state and who were not captured in the first phase of the Nigeria Police nationwide registration and capturing on the NHIS, that the second phase of the exercise will start soon.
“The exercise has been scheduled to hold in the five Area Commands’ Headquarters from Monday, March 15 to Thursday, March 18, 2021 by 8 a.m. daily.
“The enrollment is to enable the retirees (irrespective of their ranks on retirement) and each of their spouses, have full access to all NHIS services and benefits covered by the Police Health Maintenance Organisation (Police-HMO) Code – 073.
“The retired police personnel are enjoined to visit, alongside each of their spouses, Agbani, Enugu Metro, Nsukka, Oji-River and Udenu Area Command Headquarters that is nearest to them, on the aforementioned dates and time.
“They should come to the venue of the exercise with the following items: Letter of Retirement and Retiree’s Identification Card,’’ he said.
