Members of host communities of oil companies have engaged in physical combat at the ongoing public hearing organised by the House of Representatives on the Petroleum Industry Bill.

The aggrieved members turned on each other after they were prevented from representing their individual groups at the hearing.

The pandemonium ensued after the collective representative, The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, was called to the podium to make a presentation on their behalf but others rose up to make their presentations too.

This was followed by exchange of blows between the warring groups.

The lawmakers had to notify security operatives who moved in to restore order.
