Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has described the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) as nothing but a terrorist organization who carryout nefarious activities with great impunity, and any action taken against them is a welcomed development.
Soyinka stated this when he spoke, virtually, on state of the nation on a national television programme, Wednesday morning, which was monitored by 365Daily in Abuja.
On whether President Muhammadu Buhari is still in charge of security apparatus of the country, Soyinka said no, citing a scenario where the president himself confessed that former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris flouted his orders to relocate to Benue State, and yet Buhari did nothing.
On the other hand, he applauded Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State for taking action against killer herdsmen who he said have taken over the forests to perpetuate insecurity.
Soyinka frowned at officers of the Nigeria Army who flogged citizens of Ogun State for ejecting herdsmen, and commended Sunday Igboho for taking the destiny of his people into his hands.
The Nobel Laureate said he has been persuading Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State to hasten up in making the Amotekun corps functional in the state just like his counterparts in Ondo and some other southwestern states.
