NGF, Miyetti Allah meeting over Akeredolu’s vacation order

As the ultimatum given by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to herdsmen to vacate all forest reserves in the state elapses, members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and Nigeria Governors Forum are currently locked in a meeting to foster an amicable agreement between both parties.

Akeredolu is present at the meeting, alongside his Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, and Jigawa and Kebbi counterparts.

Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, said while setting the tone for the meeting that it would focus on resolving the issue of insecurity in the South-West.

Fayemi also clarified that the order pronounced by Governor Akeredolu was misconstrued on social media as he did not order Fulanis to leave Ondo State, but that  the forest reserves should be vacated.

Fayemi said, “Many members of MACBAN were born in the South-West. So, Akeredolu cannot ask Fulani to vacate Ondo State. The area concerned is the forest reserves and it is about registration and also to work in line with the law.

“What we are after is the criminals, not Fulani herdsmen, criminals are criminals irrespective of their ethnic group.”

The meeting is ongoing.
