Days after the Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, criticised the governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, over his style of governance, paramount rulers from the 18 local government areas of the state and first class chiefs have passed a vote of confidence on him.
Led by the chairman, state traditional rulers council and paramount ruler of Bakassi, His Royal Highness, Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, the traditional rulers on Thursday declared that their total support for the governor and his administration will last till the last day.
The traditional rulers also commended his administration’s development strides at the State Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s office, Calabar. They lauded the industrialisation effort of the government, stating that the industries will create jobs for the people of the state.
While urging him to be resolute in his pursuit of a better future for the state, they expressed solidarity with his government as it seeks to create an economy for the state that will be less dependent on federal allocation.
“We came to give you solidarity, that we are behind you in the process of rebuilding Cross River state,” said Etinyin Etim Okon Edet.
Responding, Governor Ayade expressed immense delight at the visit of the monarchs, while describing their visit as his most comforting moment since the national crisis.
