The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has said recent commendation by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, over President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the Oyo school abduction reflects growing confidence in the Federal Government’s renewed strategy against terrorism and violent crime.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, the group said the successful rescue of the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers demonstrated the effectiveness of improved intelligence gathering, stronger inter-agency collaboration and decisive political leadership.
According to the TMSG, the Olubadan’s remarks during a visit by Oyo State traditional rulers to the President highlighted what the group described as a significant shift in Nigeria’s security response.
The group noted that the monarch commended President Tinubu for refusing to accede to the kidnappers’ demand for the release of detained terrorist leaders in exchange for the abducted pupils and teachers.
It said the monarch also recognised enhanced cooperation among security agencies as a key factor behind the successful rescue operation and the broader fight against terrorism.
“The Olubadan’s remarks mirror the views of many Nigerians who believe the country’s security agencies are recording measurable progress in tackling insecurity through better coordination and intelligence-led operations,” the statement said.
The TMSG further argued that recent developments in the prosecution of terrorism suspects reinforce the administration’s commitment to enforcing the rule of law.
It cited the arraignment of suspected terrorists, including alleged Ansaru commanders, saying several of the defendants had entered guilty pleas while courts had delivered judgments without prolonged delays.
According to the group, the speed with which terrorism-related cases are being handled demonstrates a renewed determination by the government to ensure accountability and justice for victims.
The organisation urged the Federal Government not to relent in its security operations, stressing that recent successes should be consolidated through sustained intelligence-driven campaigns against terrorist and criminal groups across the country.
The TMSG also referred to what it described as international recognition of the administration’s security efforts, citing a reported message from United States President Donald Trump commending President Tinubu’s campaign against terrorism and his efforts to improve security in Nigeria and the wider West African sub-region.
It maintained that the reported commendation further validated the administration’s security policies since President Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.
