365Daily – President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose second and final tenure will expire on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was disclosed on Thursday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Presidency, Aina, who turns 40 in July, is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University. He is expected to bring his expertise in technology, examination administration and institutional reforms to strengthen the nation’s tertiary admissions system.
Onanuga described him as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering, with more than 15 years of experience spanning digital infrastructure, systems design and public-sector reforms.
Aina holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, as well as a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a doctorate in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also attended the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
The Presidency noted that Aina’s relationship with JAMB dates back to his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year, where he worked closely with the board’s admissions and data management processes, an experience said to have shaped his contributions to examination reforms and institutional efficiency.
Before his appointment, Aina reportedly served as consultant to examination bodies including the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), advising on ICT systems, examination integrity and digital transition initiatives.
